we begin with building sustainability and profitability into your business

In order to build a business with long-term prospects, you need to have a market you can readily tap into. Which is why, when it comes to developing entrepreneurs and SMEs, we start where the demand is. Our work with government and corporate clients helps us understand their business needs across the value chain. This allows us to be highly targeted and industry-specific, ensuring a greater measure of business success as our entrepreneurs are able to invest their energy and efforts where it really matters.

we’re an acknowledged catalyst for growth

We have been identified as one of 10 expert participants delivering business development and driving SME performance by the Catalyst for Growth (C4G) research programme, sponsored by Dalberg, JP Morgan and USAid. C4G has classified Enterpriseroom as a service provider with more efficient programmes as measured against each Rand spent, additional jobs created and added as well as revenue generated. Overall C4G’s findings reflect a strong correlation between curriculum-based training initiatives and the success of SMEs in the start-up and early-stage phases.

we take a highly customised and applied learning approach

We work closely with our entrepreneurs to develop them and offer a host of solutions that include mentorship, SME packages and training interventions relevant to industry, size, business lifecycles and entrepreneurial maturity. At the same time, we partner with them through the various phases of business growth, providing individualised support and strategic market access. Our training not only helps build the business but also develops the entrepreneurs’ leadership capabilities.

base camp

base camp

This instructor-led, intensive training addresses the foundational gaps in a business. Each module of the curriculum sets out to change the mind-set of an entrepreneur into that of a leader and is aligned to specific activities to ensure that skills delivered are actively practised. Entrepreneurs can expect to understand their value offering and customers, develop and implement strategic plans and streamline current operations with the core intention of growing a sustainable business. Entrepreneurs have an opportunity to problem-solve real business issues with peers. The Base Camp programme culminates in a pitch to a panel of advisors. The programme consists of the following core modules:

  • The entrepreneur as value creator
  • Developing values, vision and strategy
  • Implementing systems: financial management and self management
  • Acquiring and retaining customers
  • Leadership and building teams
  • Pitching and presenting your business

The programme is offered over a 6-week, 8-week, or 12-week period. The curriculum draws on current best practice principles in the field of entrepreneurship education (including the Business Model Canvas, The Lean Start-up and The 4-Hour Workweek).

bespoke business development support for growth and expansion phase entrepreneurs and SMEs

Our bespoke business development support programmes are customised for enterprises who are growing and expanding. Each business is unique, and as such the support offered is guided by the following process:

  • Business development plans: These are developed in consultation with both the entrepreneur and corporate client and include progress milestones aligned to the client’s KPIs
  • One-on-one business advisory: Each business in paired with a business advisor/s who guide entrepreneurs through their development journey
  • Technical Support: Specialists who work with enterprises to solve technical business problems. Support can be in the form of training, advisory or both
  • Facilitated access to the client and market opportunities: Client supply chain opportunities are promoted to entrepreneurs through facilitated market linkages, helping drive sustainability and growth.
  • Access to funding: Facilitated funding for businesses that work with us
